The Project

Introduction

Emmanuel Church sought a modern, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing heating solution that would also incorporate new lighting. Mr. Mike Picton, representing the church, approached Connect Infrared Limited to provide guidance on the best way to meet their needs. The church required a system that could quickly and effectively heat large areas while offering a visually appealing design, especially for the main church area (Nave), the stage, and the crèche. Additionally, the system needed to be cost-effective and energy efficient to align with the church’s sustainability goals.

At the time, Connect Infrared Limited was in the development stages of a new product, a chandelier-style heater with integrated LED lighting that could offer both function and style. This development led to the creation of the “Crown Range,” an innovative heating solution that fit the needs of the church perfectly.

Challenge:

Challenge: Emmanuel Church needed a fast, efficient heating system that enhanced their space aesthetically, while also being cost-effective and easy to control remotely.

Efficient Heating: Quick and effective heating for large, open spaces like the Nave and more compact areas such as the stage and crèche.
Bespoke Design: A chandelier-style heater that complements the church’s traditional architecture while adding modern functionality.
Energy Efficiency: A cost-effective system to reduce long-term energy expenses.
Integrated Lighting: LED lights built into the heating units for a seamless blend of form and function.
Smart Control: Centralised control hub with app connectivity for remote management of the heating system.

Site Assessment

Connect Infrared Limited conducted a site visit to assess the church’s heating and lighting needs. The focus was on three main areas:

The Nave (main church area): A large space requiring powerful and distributed heating.
The Stage: A smaller area requiring localised but effective heating for performances and presentations.
The Crèche: A child-friendly area requiring quick heating to ensure comfort, especially during colder months.

The church’s existing infrastructure included a three-phase electrical supply, which allowed for the integration of a modern, high-powered heating system. After evaluation, the team at Connect Infrared determined the specific needs for each area and finalised the installation plan.

Installation Process:

Steps Taken:

Electrical Assessment: An electrical site visit confirmed that the church already had a three-phase electrical supply. This allowed for seamless integration of the new heating and lighting system.
Old System Removal: The existing lighting system was removed, and the chandeliers were installed in the same positions to minimize disruption to the church’s structure.
Heater Installation: The chandelier heaters, stage heater, and crèche heater were installed in their designated locations, with meticulous attention to aesthetics and functionality.
Control System Setup: The new three-phase board was installed and upgraded to handle future phases of heating expansion. The control hub and app connectivity were tested to ensure ease of use.

Results:

After two long but efficient workdays, the project was successfully completed. The result was a transformed church environment, where both form and function were beautifully balanced:

The Nave is now heated quickly and evenly, with the chandeliers offering both warmth and stylish lighting.
The Stage is a comfortable space, suitable for performances and services.
The Crèche is a warm and inviting area for children, even on cold days.
